There are three general types of carpet styles available today and are defined by the way the pile is attached to the carpet backing. Loop pile is a style of carpeting where the yarn is bent into little loops. Prized for its durable, stain-resistant characteristics, it is typically low profile and doesn’t offer much cushioning. Cut pile carpets snip off the tips of longer looped carpets to create a denser, softer, plusher feel. Lastly, both loop and cut pile can be combined in carpeting to bring the best qualities of each type.
